What the numbers mean

Reading ZywOo's configuration

Eight hundred eDPI sits almost exactly on the professional average, which makes ZywOo the most useful reference point on this page. If you are choosing a starting number and have no reason to prefer anything else, this is it.

The interesting figure is elsewhere: 4000 Hz polling, four times the usual default. That reports mouse position every quarter of a millisecond instead of every millisecond, and it is real — but it is also four times the interrupt load on the CPU.

On a tournament machine that costs nothing. On a mid-range home build it can cost frames, and frames are worth more here than a fraction of a millisecond. Copying the sensitivity is sensible; copying the polling rate without checking your frame rate first is not.

Before you copy it

An eDPI on its own tells you almost nothing

A professional's sensitivity was chosen alongside a specific mousepad, a specific desk depth and a specific grip. Lift the number out of that context and you get someone else's compromise.

Use it as a starting point instead. Set 400 DPI, set the in-game figure to reach 800 eDPI, then play a few hours and check one thing: does a 180 degree turn fit on your pad without lifting? If it does not, the number is wrong for your desk, whatever it does for ZywOo.
